My Research Proposal

 I have attended the course called Social Science Research Methods since this term (Spring, 2011/2012). During the term, we have been lectured by Mr. Chambers. Now that, we are familiar with the main concepts and approaches used in planning, conducting and writing about research. At the end of the term, we developed a research project. My Glogster Project

This is my first glogster project. I worked with one of my friends, Emine. Before we created that poster, we read the summary of the the book named 1984, and watch the video of 1984.  Since I read that novel  by George Orwell in the timesof my high school, I just went over the study notes.I didn't have any difficulties in the poster preparing process. Then we created a poster to inform people about Oceania. We had a chance to choose Publisher or Glogster to do this project. So we chose Glogster. Because we find it more entertaining, and also we think that Publisher is more classic, and common. I hope you will like it as we like  :)  Here is my poster :

My Interview Project

Firstly, this project was seemed very difficult to me. The interviews in the assigned website are very long. The speakers are the native speaker of English.  These are why these interviews are difficult to understand. But this is my assignment and also as Shakespeare said that 'Cowards die many times before their deaths', lastly, I did that assignment, too :) I should say that learning a language is much more exposure to that language. This project reminds all of us the importance of listening activities, and practices again...

The interviewer is Francine Stock. The interviewee is James Cameron whose last film is Avatar. Topics are the title of the movie, 3D technology, makeup of the avatars.

The first question is about the title best noted for computer gaming. The term avatar becomes quite common and people are associated with their online avatars, gaming avatars. He says that his aim is not to change the title having different associations for people.

The second question is about the characters in Avatar. It is a physiological representation. He casts people to play both Navi characters and the avatars who have strong faces. If he wants them to be fast, they have to have active bodies. It is a simplification of that navi versus the humans according to him.

And the third question is about how to strengthen the humanlike characters on screens. He spends a lot of time and energy on building a system to keep the spark of life in actor’s face alive through the inventers of CD characters. But when the technical means flaps, we benefits from makeup and recordings of every detailed motions of mouth, eyes or ears.

Thirdly, Francine Stock asks ‘do you think 3D is going to be stable film?’. He says he will continue to produce films in 3D and we see the world in 3D.

The fifth question is a fact about the 3D in cinema which is more powerful than 3D in home. James Cameron also agrees that fact.

The last question is about the effect and the role of science in cinema. He thinks science is not the major factor in cinema. Ecology and colonization are said to be possible reasons of big battles at present .

If I were the interviewer, I would like to ask him :

• Why did you produce such kind of a science fiction fiction movie ?
• If the Avatar were real, how could our world be ?

My Webquest Project

THE GAZELLE AND BEAUTY

There was a gazelle in a lovely forest. The gazelle had golden hair. Her body was thin and looked beautiful. Her eyes were big and attractive. The gazelle lived with her friends – the giraffe, the elephant, and the crow. The gazelle was always proud of her beauty. And, the gazelle criticized her other animal friends in the forest they lived together.
One day, the gazelle met her friends while she was walking around.  Firstly, she came across with the giraffe and began to talk about her beauty and commented on the length of the giraffe’s neck: ‘Your neck is too long, you look so awful.’ The giraffe was offended by her words. And then the gazelle went on walking.
Secondly, the gazelle came across the elephant. And, the gazelle said:  ‘You are so fat. How amazing you fit into this forest! ‘Hereupon, the elephant became sad and began to cry. The gazelle didn’t mind the elephant.
Lastly, while the crow was flying in the sky, the gazelle saw the crow, and began to talk with the crow. The gazelle said: ‘You are the ugliest bird I have ever seen so far. Not only your voice is bad, but also your appearance is very horrible.’ So, the gazelle broke her friend’s heart again.
While the gazelle was returning to her home, suddenly, she smashed against a tree. The gazelle was badly injured and lost her glamorous beauty which was the only thing she had.
The next day, while the gazelle was walking around in the forest, she met her friends- the giraffe, the crow, and the elephant. When they saw the face of the gazelle, they didn’t criticize her injury, and the gazelle took notice of her mistake.


Moral: Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. 


While I and my partner- Emine Altunyıldız were preparing it, we followed certain steps :
1.  We read and studied the definition of the concepts fable and morals. We understand the information.
2. We read and analized the fable "the ant and the grasshopper "
3. We watched the Disney's video of the ant and the grasshopper.
4. We completed the chart for the gazelle and beauty.
5. We identified the elements within the fable.
6. We watched the video how to cerate a fable.
7. We followed the steps and began to creating our own original fable.
8. Lastly, we presented our own fable on prezi.

My Word

     I couldn't determine my eminent word, so I asked all my acquintances. They said me a lot of adjectives about me. I couldn't decide which one I should put my blog. These were optimistic, cheerful, cute, and helpful. I don't know which word that describes me the best is. But lastly, I decided to 'helpful' :) HELPFUL is one of my adjectives :)
     Why do they think that I am an helpful girl? Because I usually help everything I can do.  Also, I like helping the other people...

My Repurposing Idea

My idea is to make a night lamp. I don't have any night lamp in my room. So I need a night lamp. If you are not sleeping in white light, you also should try this useful, easy, and cheap idea. You will enjoy while doing it, and you will be happy because you will sleep more comfortably. Lastly, only thing you need to do a night lamp is a gelatin. I bought some colourful gelatins. I covered the white lamp in my room with blue and red gelatin. Take it easy...
